總統蔡英文昨（二十四）日表示，職業棒球是棒球運動發展的火車頭，而打造更健全的職業棒球環境，是政府接下來的重要目標。總統說，國內職棒確實有六隊的發展空間，當球隊數量增加之後，除了讓優秀的球員能夠有更多發展空間外，更多元的對戰組合也會讓比賽更精彩。

總統並提出國內發展職棒的「三支箭」。其中，提升企業參與的意願，是政府未來要強化職棒發展的第一支箭。第二支箭則是要健全職業球隊的二軍制度。第三支箭政府會從硬體做起，讓球員有更好、更安全的場地打球。
