法新社報導，美國商務部公布的數據顯示，5月消費者支出僅成長0.2%，是4月增幅的一半不到，並且延續穩定下降趨勢。反映物價飆漲下消費者買氣減弱。

不過，美國商務部的報告還顯示，5月消費者物價指數（CPI）較去年同期上漲6.3%，與4月漲幅相同，為美國聯邦準備理事會（Fed）打擊通貨膨脹的奮戰帶來正面跡象。

美股今天開盤後約15分鐘，標普500指數下挫1.7%報3753.55點，道瓊工業指數下跌1.6%報30519.79，以科技股為重的那斯達克指數重挫2.2%報10936.67點。

由於聯準會採取積極升息行動來平抑物價，引發經濟衰退疑慮，標普500指數今年來已下跌超過17%。

英國牛津經濟公司（Oxford Economics）首席美國經濟學家布索爾（Lydia Boussour）指出，若經過通膨調整，依照官方數據，5月美國消費者實質支出是萎縮的。
