You'd better explain why you were so late.（我等你等超過半小時了！你最好給我解釋為什麼遲到這麼久。）B: Sorry, I didn't hear the alarm clock. I slept like a rock.（抱歉，我沒聽到鬧鐘響。我整個睡死了。）◎ hit the hay / hit the sack 去睡覺Hay 的意思是「乾草」，而 sack 的意思是「麻布袋」。在早期的美國，人們的床是用塞滿甘草的麻布袋做成的。在睡前把寢具拍一拍的話，可以讓裡面的乾草蓬鬆些，睡起來也更舒服。因此 hit the hay / sack 就延伸成「上床睡覺」的意思。A: Time to hit the hay!
