洋基隊「A-Rod」Alex Rodriguez第1局就開轟，幫助「沙胖」CC Sabathia拿到本季男朋友媽媽母親節禮物復出之後的第1勝，此戰洋基8比4擊敗老虎。

此戰在底特律舉行，氣候嚴寒，氣溫是在攝氏零度以下，是老虎主場（Comerica Park）史上最冷的一戰，不過沙胖依舊投的虎虎生風，先發6局被擊出4支安打失3分，三振3次、保送4次。

沙胖去年季後接受了戒酒治療，今年春訓熱身賽表現不理想，直到最後階段才擠進了洋基隊先發投手的輪值，不過他今天投的相當好，即使是嚴寒的天候下，總教練Joe Girardi說在這種天氣狀況下登板，CC Sabathia想要證明自己仍然可以投球，他已用實力告訴我們一切。

沙胖先發，老戰友 A-Rod第1局就轟陽春彈（本季第1轟），讓沙胖吃下定心丸，這也是 A-Rod生涯第688轟，5局上Carlos Beltrán也轟了2分砲（本季第2轟）。此戰洋基隊共擊出14支安打，Jacoby Ellsbury敲1安、3打點，Didi Gregorius敲1安、2打點。

老虎隊擊出7支安打，José Iglesias敲2安，James McCann敲1安、2打點。Mike Pelfrey只先發3.2局被擊出8支安打包括1轟，失6分吞敗投。
