Make a Dealer Key with BMW Multi Tool

BMW multi tool is a professional car key programmer, which has aroused great interests for many BMW car owners. Here will show you a tutorial on “how to prepare a dealer key” below:

1. Select “Connect” to detect the current car protocol on the tool interface, and get the CAS info.
2. Choose “Read EEPROM” to read CAS EEPROM file and save it.
3. Click “Key Learn”, and then will pop out key learn window.
4. Then Click “Get Key Info” to make the key info stored in CAS system. (Picture 1.1)

5. Select “Save Key Info” to store the read key info for backup.
6. During making key, make sure that the device and programmer are well connected. (Picture 1.2)
7. Put the new blank key into the center of the key programmer. (Picture 1.2)

8. Choose the position where you want to suit the key.
9. Then click “Make Dealer Key” to prepare dealer key. If finished, you will get key make ok and locked, and use it to start your car. If out of work, use “Add Key” function to add new dealer key to CAS system (Picture 1.3). Once work, you can directly jump to Step 13.

10. As above mentioned, you can proceed the following steps if it fails to start engine. Use “Add Key” function to add key to CAS system. Then it will pop out the interface (Picture 1.4), reading make dealer key success written to CAS system. So far, you can start engine via the new key. (Note: if not, you are recommended to use the original working key)

11. Turn back to the main window, use “Synch DME-CAS” to synchronize DME (ECU) with CAS.
12. Clear wheel errors via “Synch CAS- ELV”.
13. Enter into key learn window, clear all error sin CAS system with “Clear DTC” and “Clear Shadow”.
(Note: During the process, once you get the tips like Picture 1.1, remove the key from ignition switch, or if key has keyless, take the key out of car)
