（中央社記者汪淑芬台北24日電）恆春機場已兩年多沒有旅客，民航局曾想結束營業，因地方政府積極爭取，10月行政院開過會後，交通部決定暫不關閉，並規劃開放國際包機，以2年期限讓地方政府努力挽救。

不過，立榮航空後來機隊汰換更新，ATR600型飛機比原先飛恆春的Dash型飛機載客量大，起降標準較高，因恆春機場無法達到航空公司需求，2014年9月至今，台北-恆春航線等於名存實亡，沒有一名旅客進出。

恆春機場是台灣最小的一座機場，2004年1月啟用，只開航過台北-恆春一條航線，原本華信、復興及立榮航空都有飛航，因落山風問題，常造成班機被迫取消，復興及華信先後退出，2007年起剩立榮苦撐。
