-----節錄自鼠年大年初二我寄給朋友們的E-mail------

Hi friends,

It is Wei writing this E-mail from Taiwan.  How are you doing recently?

I just came back from US three days ago.  It is Chinese New Year in Taiwan…So....  Happy Golden Rat year!!!

For the past one year, I put a lot effort on creating this website, www.chineseinkdesign.com  It is a website for English-reader to find oriental arts, especially Chinese Calligraphy arts...

My friend who was a designer, told me that her US colleagues and classmates in design field always have hard time in finding good Chinese Calligraphy images, no mention it is impossible for them to tell what these calligraphy means.  Her word brought the genesis of Chinese Ink Online, LLC.

On June 2006, I left my ex-job as an IT assistant with savings of about $20,000 to begin this venture--  Since then, I traveled back and forth US, China, and Taiwan recruiting people, raising fund, setting up office, and doing sales.  For having very limited resource, I also dealt with accounting, tax, company registration by myself.  A bad thing happened to my life on December, 2006, which made me literally “shut-down” for two months.  However, maybe good things are supposed to happen after bad things.  Two months later, I obtained maybe the most comprehensive and high quality database of Hanzi calligraphy/art images from our first parent company.  It gave me a database of 340,000 calligraphy images and thousands of high quality art images from all the famous Chinese ancient artists.

After acquiring the database, we spent half year doing translation. We then created two online search engines to match our calligraphy images to our 80,000 translations; one search engine to categorize the ancient Chinese art/painting images.  We did all the translation/revision carefully, so we became the only one in the field who can guarantee accuracy.

The web-design and programming job was another story for me. Since I did not have experience on those fields, the try-errors were really painful.  We re-write the website three times with three different programming languages (ASP, PHP, and .Net 2.0).  I traveled almost all around the US cities visiting our first target market, tattoo designers.  The limited resource made my trip tough.  There was one month I had to sleep on the floor and ate one to two meals a day.  I have been all the southern and eastern states of US, plus Illinois, Nevada, and Ohio on the business trips.

We did not make profit yet.  But we got a lot positive feedbacks from the industry, designers, and customers.  Now everything is getting smoother.  Our second parent company, Systemlead, kicked in on May 2007, which released my pressure on IT.  My designer, Yung, worked hard and progressed largely in 2007.  ----------------

A little update about me====
On October 2003, I left Taiwan to US for my MBA in FSU.  After graduation in May 2005, I began to work as an IT assistant in NC for an US company.  When the chance/ resource came to me in the middle of 2006, I left my job and began to establish Chinese Ink Online, LLC.
