Not long ago when China inaugurated her second but first self-made carrier, some Taiwan's "experts" and TV pundits sneered at her, arguing that the carrier pales by comparison with American counterpart which has already installed with catapult for fighters to take off and land vertically, instead of sliding from/onto the deck. But from the video reporting attached below that China may have already gotten hold of the skill and know-how of Steamed or Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, meaning to launch the fighters from the catapult on carriers.
It's quite amazing that China's military powers, as well as so many other noticeable industry items, have mushroomed so rapidly and caught up others' by "passing her car on curve". Dear islanders, don't think big of yourselves any more. China's Mainland may think Taiwan is one of her core interests, but she now regard the so-called Taiwan Issue as a back-burner. Independence? It stands no chance because the island won't drift away.
