據了解，17日中常會攸關總統提名人的結果報告，如果洪秀柱過關，將會在中常會上通過，如果洪秀柱未過關，中常會將討論徵召辦法與人選，因此，黨中央仍傾向安排朱立倫親自主持，也不排除將中常會延至晚上，讓朱立倫結束備詢後可以主持中常會。

國民黨也發布新聞稿表示，朱立倫請假期間，中常會有重要議案務需主席親自處理，屆時將會再協調行程。發言人楊偉中說，朱立倫只是請假中常會，並非這三周都完全不碰黨務。
