The death of a fellow cyclist hit by a car in the Waikato has yet to sink in for Bill Donaldson, who was also knocked from his bike.

Mr Donaldson cannot remember anything of Monday evening's crash near Hamilton, where a car ran into the group of cyclists Frankley Mart.

Father of one Craig Goulsbro, 49, died late on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Donaldson said he did not know Mr Goulsbro well, but had been cycling with him regularly for some time.

"It's a little bit surreal, to be fair ... the last thing I remember of Craig is cycling behind him down the start of Puketaha Road," he told NZ Newswire.

"It's a bit strange. It probably hasn't sunk in."

Mr Donaldson was thrown into a fence and was knocked unconscious for about 10 minutes when the group of 11-14 cyclists was hit. He can't remember a period of around half and hour around the accident.

He has since been released from hospital and is in a neck brace.

Mr Donaldson said he felt for the other cyclists in the group, who had to deal with the aftermath of the crash case for samsung galaxy, considering the state he and Mr Goulsbro were in.

He said Puketaha Road was probably the most dangerous stretch of road the group pedalled, and they normally rode in single file along it, although he can't remember if that was the case on Monday.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, and so far say a lack of visibility, along with the driver not allowing sufficient space when overtaking the group, may have contributed to the accident.

The car's driver told the Waikato Times said he had little choice but to pull into the cyclists or risk a head-on collision.

The crash happened between Hamilton and Morrinsville. In 2010 tooth implant, three people were killed when a car crossed the centre line and crashed into another group of cyclists outside of Morrinsville.
