１９８７年發行完［The Christmas Album］後, 澳大利亞流行雙人組空中補給（Air Supply）結束與Arista唱片的合約, 兩人暫時從組合休息。

１９８９年中期, 空中補給開始籌備下張專輯

１９９１年７月,第１１張錄音室大碟［The Earth Is...／大地是…］發行, 這是空中補給與Giant／Warner Records合約的首張作品, 由Harry Maslin製作, 樂評普通。

首支主打是［Without You／沒有你］

原版是英國搖滾團體Badfinger, 於１９７０年專輯［No Dice／沒有骰子］中灌錄。

１９７１年, 美國歌手Harry Nilsson翻唱, 成為世界暢銷曲, 登上英, 美…多國冠軍, 成為最著名的版本。

空中補給版是首軟調流行搖滾, 此曲旋律本就悅耳,

主唱Russell Hitchcock高亢清亮嗓音的娓娓詮釋讓此曲更加濃情蜜意, 動聽迷人。

可是空中補給聲勢持續下滑, ［Without You］並沒打入澳大利亞, 亦無出現在美國單曲榜

只拿到Billboard副榜－成人抒情榜＃４８

［The Earth Is...］也沒入專輯榜。

不過空中補給在喜歡情歌的亞洲卻維持高人氣, ［Without You］受到當地電台強力放送

［The Earth Is...］銷售頗佳, 讓專輯全球賣出一百萬張

此後空中補給事業重心便逐漸轉向亞洲
